An adventure for hiking lovers and outdoor activities, this is a different alternative to the traditional circuits in Cusco, the route to Waqrapukara is full of beautiful Andean landscapes in harmony with the remains of Inca architecture.
This archaeological complex is on the top of a mountain bordered of the Apurimac canyon, making one of the most interesting trips in one day.
To reach the complex are 2 ways, by Pitumarca and Sangarara in both will need a walkabout 3-hours through mountains and valleys.

Cusco – Chuquicahuana – Sangarara – Rinconada – Waqrapukara
Our private transportation will pick you up at your hotel from 5:00 – 5:30 a.m. to head southwards to Chuquicahuana from this point will take the route to Acomayo, on the way there we will make a small stop to appreciate the lagoon of Pomacanchi and the flora that has its plateau.
Will continue until arriving at “Sangarara” where you will taste an Andean breakfast (The transfer from Cusco to this point takes 2 hours).
Then we will drive by a zigzagging road to a parking lot in the Rinconada’s community, beginning our trek towards Waqrapukara. The journey takes 3-hours to reach the archaeological center, during the hike you can see rocky trails, flora, and fauna typical of the zone.
On the way, you will visit the Waqrapukara viewpoint, an elevated area from where you can view the valley that surrounds the mountain, in the precinct, the guide will assist you for 2 hours. We will visit the sun gate, the main square, terraces, the Wiracocha enclosure, and Andean rupestral paintings. Ending the visit you will have an hour to explore the place and take photos or videos.
We will return to the Rinconada’s community where our mobility awaits.
Back to Sangarara, you will taste a hearty and delicious lunch prepared with ingredients harvested in the community.
We will return to the city of Cusco at 6:00 pm and will drop off our travelers at their hotels or near the main square.
