Humantay Lake & Chonta Canyon Full Day

Early, our private transportation will pick you up from your hotel between 4:00 and 4:15 a.m. to head northwest towards the town of “Mollepata” to taste a delicious Andean breakfast. The trip takes 2 hours and a half.

We will continue the trip by car through a path of land towards the Community of Soraypampa located at 3900 m.a.s.l. Here begins our walk to the Humantay Lake (1 hour and a half).

The route offers visitors charming landscapes, rocky trails, creeks and, snowy mountains like Salkantay and Veronica.

The guide will explain the geographical background and history of the lake, then you will have free time to take pictures and videos. We will return to Soraypampa where our transport awaits to return Mollepata and taste a buffet lunch based on Andean ingredients.

Continue to our second destination “El Mirador del Cóndor” in the community of Chonta – Limatambo, upon arrival here we prepare to begin the walk up to the canyon (1-hour journey).

Our second route presents exceptional and unique flora, becoming a magnet for botanists who visit the community to study its diversity in depth.

Upon reaching the top of the Apurimac Canyon you will find the viewpoint, a plain of about 500 meters located at 3100 m.a.s.l. From here you will appreciate the condors that return to their nests and rest on the canyon walls.

It is important to remember that to best experience the condor’s flight, binoculars are recommend.

After the great spectacle, we will return to the community of chonta where our mobility awaits.

Finally back to the city of Cusco where we will drop off our travelers at their hotels or near the main square.
